Verdant are in awesome form. This seems to have everything turned up to 11. It’s thicker, there’s way more murk, the fruit flavours are riper, there’s more of a bitter twang, it’s got a more of a dank thing going on. It’s great to see a collaboration where there is obvious input from the visiting team.

The first thing you see when presented with this can is the name. Is ‘Keep Left’ merely a underground/underpass foot traffic instruction or is it a political one? Merely noting it’s by Verdant, and possibly a collaboration with someone called Equilibrium. The understated packaging doesn’t tempt you to linger too long before cracking it open. Upon doing so, the second thing you notice is the colour as it hits the bottom of your glass. Thick and opaque yellow, like a can of Homer Simpson. Or custard (as long as the custard is cold, as the packaging demands). The third thing is the aroma, which is outstanding… if you like the smell of big, fruity double IPAs. Of course you do. A little too eager I took a mouthful and enjoyed the thick mouthfeel (not too far off custard) and the delicious peachy fruit that gives way to bitterness. I’m not sure how political an 8% DIPA can be, but I’m sure if the powers that be work out how good this stuff is they’ll instantly try to ban it. Surely we can’t be having this much fun? 4.75*

Verdant can do no wrong, loved this one, nice n juicy and refreshing
Here’s a collaboration brew that crosses much ocean and miles, uniting the brilliant beer brains of Verdant from Falmouth, UK, and Equilibrium of New York. This 8% Double IPA is named with some great life advice – Keep Left.
