A 4 pack of Rothau’s Tannenzapfle Pilsner. A clean pilsner that’s everything you’d expect from German style of beer. The label depicts the spruce-fir pinecone branches of the forest and these pinecones are what this beer is named after, Tannenzäpfle.

Honest brew was the first place I’d knowingly tried this beer. When I shared it with my cousin he said I’d had 10 pints of it with him in Berlin one night. Either way, it’s delicious and the night in Berlin was a night to remember (and evidently, partly forget)

Drank this straight from the bottle so cannot comment on how it looks in a glass. I can say that I really like the bottle artwork, although it has pretty high novelty value. Personally, I think it’s cool! As for the beer, it’s light and refreshing if a little nondescript and perhaps leaning toward the bitter side of my palette. No comments on aroma. Definitely drinkable, I could easily get sloshed on this alone. Better than the mainstream stuff down the pub, and probably on par with the better ‘mainstream’ stuff. Probably won’t buy again.

Discovered this brilliant beer whilst travelling in the Black Forest. Grassy hops and citrus with a strong and clean earthy nose. Refreshing.

Easy drinking lager
