Typical fruity and yeasty Belgiany aroma and flavour. Quite dry with a slight bitter finish.

A spicy fruity cake aroma. Pours brown in the glass. This has lots of earthy orchard fruit notes, almost like a saison at the start, with a spicy stewed fruit background. It’s sweet in the middle, before ending on a yeasty malt and mildly bitter finish. This is like drinking a cake from a German Christmas market in ale form. Pretty decent.

A classic Belgian beer. A nice orange/amber colour, slightly hazy (but not “Dank Hazy”). It’s got quite a funky smelling aroma however, the taste is superb. It’s dry, really dry, with a yeasty, full mouthfeel. There’s a farmyardy, hay like taste (not a bad thing in Belgian beers) but with a lingering hop bitterness. It’s almost peppery at times but then earthy and ever so slightly sour. It deserves its status as a genuine classic.

otentially one of the most complex beers around, Orval is a brew you have to try at least once. Dry hopped and matured with Brett yeast, it is at once fruity, spicy, lightly tart and refreshing.
