Rich notes and definitely a beer to drink slowly. Overall a great beer that matches up with its Belgian rivals

Worth a try – not quite sure where to categorise it as an ale but very much worth a try
Petri –
Somewhat different trappist beer, and English! Dark and rich fruity flavour.
Tom –
Michael –
Very different but really nice actually. Almost like what you would imagine a pale stout to taste like
Philip –
A very special treat.
Christopher –
Dan –
Sam –
Hints of whisky and lots of dark chocolate. Perfect Christmas drink.
Alastair –
Easily compared with belgian trappist ales it is a mahogany coloured ale with a lasting head it is full bodied with a dry finish

Glorious ale
Alexander –
Lovely
Stuart –
Craig –
A trappist beer based on Belgian trappist knowledge. Outstanding.
Jon –
Not something I’d usually go for, but the depth of flavour meant I ended up ordering more
Tom –

Simon –
One of my favourites – strong, earthy and 100% trappist in it's style – love it!
Matthew –
Eye – brown pour, small beige head.
Nose – malty, stewed stone fruits, a little earthy, sweet.
Taste – sweet, malty, fruity, with boozy kick.
Palate – medium body, short sharp carbonation.
Very good.
Thomas –

Rob –
Hmm, had to give this a go because it's brewed locally. This was pretty rich and full on, an acquired taste akin to Gold label. Sorry. Not necessarily bad at all.
Daniel –
Never tire of this. A cracking beer.

Woody biznizz!

Thick molasses with a pinch of cloves and banana. The caramel is distinctive here and lingers for some time.
John –
Very nice with a steak pie

Wonderful Trappist offering. When I first tried this beer, I was reminded of Westvleteren 12 with an initial bready, yeasty note followed by the taste of pepper and fig. Absolutely outstanding. At 7.4% it is a bit more forgiving than its illustrious cousin.
Jonathan –
Marc –
I foolishly poured a little too quickly and ended up with a lot of sediment in the glass, however the taste was not diminished. What a great beer!
Aileen –
Very interesting. Strong and definitely a trappist ale.
Will –
Steve –
Enjoyable. Isn’t too sweet considering the strength of the beer
Connor –
Rich, complex, layered flavours, that linger on the palate. My first trappist ale, but I shall be on the look out for more and will definitely buy this one again.
Martin –
Nicholas –
Paul –
Excellent beer, so tasty.
Dean –
Thin creamy beige head. Hazy amber pour. a little chocolate and some sweetness.
Sarah –
Des –
Needs some ageing
Peter –
Well this was a very full bodied beer with a great after taste , with a heavy texture
Kevin –
Very rich and complex
Matt –
England’s very own trappist ale! Not as good as some of the others but for the price; Amazing!
Jon –
Not what I expected…and was a very pleasant surprise…almost stout-like in look, and it poured with masses of yeasty smell…a superb ale for a winter’s eve, with bags of flavour – bit like a crusty brown loaf in a glass…wonderful stuff and would have this again like a shot.
Mark –
Quite nice, but really a little bit stronger than the body of the beer can support: you taste the alcohol as a distinct flavour. One suspects they just made it this strong because “trappist beers are supposed to be” and may have made something slightly easier to drink otherwise.
John –
An excellent trappist ale, reminiscent in many ways of good Christmas cake – full of weighty fruit aromas for a wonderful slow sipping experience.
Chris –
Great story behind this beer. Helping out the monks.
Joanne –
Great balance, thinking a bit cheesy but not overpowering
Simon –
It’s an acquired taste, but worth a try if you’re feeling adventurous.
Thomas –
Standard trappist beer, you know what you’re getting
Shaun –
Kevin –
Philip –
Michael –
Very good. Full on but with plenty of subtlety too. Allow to warm before drinking – it really opened up as it warmed up. Not a session beer by any means but a sip by the fireside winner.
Stephen –
Very nice aroma
Michael –
Lovely beer with a bit of history behind it.
Michael –
Miguel –
Not as good as I remembered.
Kjeld –
derek –

Andy –
Loved my first Trappist ale.

Gary –
My very first purchase and I am based In Leicestershire but knew nothing about the trappist ale Tyn Meadows and the amazing story behind it`s creation. It has a warm, chocolate and liquorice flavour but boy is it strong so only sip.Don`t gulp. That way the taste and aromas will add to what is a very enjoyable drinking experience. It leaves a warm pleasant aroma and strong self satisfaction after completion. Thoroughly recommended.
Richard –
Malty and thick. Opaque like pond water
Roger –
Delicious
Jayden –
Very sweet and boozy. loved this one!
faye –
lovely
John –
Recommended by a friend and it’s fairly good. 3.5 I’d say.
Brian –
nice drink that will undoubtedly split opinion
Andrew –
Richard –
Not what I was expecting but still really liked it . Main impression taste wise was toffee , long aftertaste , and medium bodied . Reminded me more of a strong English old ale than the trappist beers of Belgium .
Lyndsey –
Found this more sweet than Belgian Trappists with dark chocolate/fruit notes
Amanda –
David –
Paul –
Good strong Ale
Ryan –
Not my favourite type of ale, but really nice flavours and decent strength
Harshpal –
Excellent beer, it’s got a very different taste being a brown Trappist ale but definitely one I’d recommend giving a shot. Very wholesome flavour profile that leaves you feeling refreshed and certainly does not feel like a 7.4%, much easier to drink yet with a strong mouthfeel
Martin –
Full of rich Belgiany malts and licorice
Andy –
Peter –
david –
Loved this. Great malt base and loads of flavour.
Paul –
A deep, earthy mouthful. Drinks quick.
Vicky –
Sean –
It does what it says on tin, can be a little over whelming but my goodness, this is ALE.
Dean –
Nice strength & flavour
Kirsty –
Not a massive fan but my boyfriend liked it
Martin –
Interesting and enjoyable, different to trappists I have had in the past
Simon –
Very nice strong beer
Ali –
Heavy duty
William –
🍺
James –
Dark rich raisin.
John –
A roasted aroma of coffee and cocoa. This pours a caramel colour and sits a foggy chocolate brown in the glass. There’s lots of malty roasted coffee notes in this ale. You also get a smooth rich chocolate flavour that leads onto the light fruitiness of stewed fruit and you can definitely taste the alcohol from the high ABV. There’s a fair bit of sediment in this beer and the lower you get in the glass, the more you get a sweet toffee flavour coming through. A smooth, rich and strong beer, perfect for a cold night.
Ken –
did not like this at all
Andrew –
Wow what a beer loads going on, lovely malty sweet wheaty & smooth
Matthew –
Anton –

A trappist beer from Leicestershire which competes strongly with any Belgian counterpart. One of my favourites
Adam –
A great English-style Trappist beer
Pete –
David –
Nice taste would give 3.5 stars
Dan –
Had this many times, lovely trappist beer, perfect for cold nights and log fires!

Simon –
john –
Martin –
Strong and little sweet
Tyson –
Stephen –
Amazing
Scarlett –
a strong and heavy beer, destined to be drunk from a stein, the flavour profile helps carry that extra alcohol and you can happily sip on this one
Campbell –
Nick –
Probably not a bad beer but not my usual style.
simon –
Great value
Joanne –
drank some of these with a belgian friend… even he was pleasantly surprised!
James –
Had a fair amount of sediment at the bottom… dark reasonably tasting beer
Dean –
Very nice and definitely quaffable.
Adam –
First trappist beer won’t be my last sweet and malty really nice
Charles –
Very good, flavoursome ale
Darren –

Lovely beer
Liam –
Brandon –
Very glad to have found this one
Paul –
Jamie –
Different, enjoyed this
Simon –
Richard –
Great beer, fruity and malty, beautiful colour, great big rich mouthfeel. Not to be confused with a Belgian Trappist beer, this is dark and typically British. The sweetness is reminiscent of some Scottish beers. Very nice, recommended
Shaun –
If you like a trappist ale, youll like this, just like the belgian counterparts
Eifion –
lovely example of a trappist ale
Cliffton –
Very like Belgian dark beers. Rich fruit, bit like rich fruit cake with added bitter coffee/chocolate notes.
Alistair –
Very tasty, similar in character to some of the Belgian dark beers but with a fuller flavour.
Paul –
Powerful peppery beer
Sam –
I enjoyed this beer very much. Deep flavours of chocolate and berries, but it isn’t overly sweet. It lasts very long on the palate and is warming, but it doesn’t taste overly strong. It’s great, I would definitely recommend.
Benjamin –
Great Trappist beer from where you wouldn’t expect. Stands up to many from Belgium!
Matthew –
Never had an English Trappist beer but this does a bloody good job. Bags of flavour, taste of treacle and strong taste
Chris –
Rich and delicious, this ale reminds me of the kinds of ales my dad used to drink when I was a youngster, stealing sips! The liquorice notes are subtle and leave a lasting impact on the mouthfeel.
