Ever since I once got absolutely smashed drinking only Bacchus Kriek at a bar in Headingly mid noughties I’ve stayed well clear of any beer that looks like it has any sort of red or berry type fruit in it. Salty Kiss was ok I guess but much to watery for my taste. Might just bob down to Tesco now though actually and get myself some Bacchus…

A fruity Gooseberry aroma. Pours a cloudy peach colour in the glass. The tangy sourness of the gooseberry comes through, but is prevented from becoming too tart by the salty aftertaste that cuts through it. I’m also getting alot of crisp lager notes as well. A light, refreshing and well balanced gose.

Update: My first review is below, but I tried a second can and it was much, much better. No salt taste dominating, subtle gooseberry, and really refreshing. Maybe the first can was just a wrong’un. However, it does suggest a bit of an issue with consistency…..My first review was; Ummmm. No. As a ‘normal’ gose, would have been quite pleasant and refreshing. The gooseberry is invisible and now and again the salt comes through, but not in a good way; think more ‘mouthful of seawater’. Feels contrived, not very nice.

Sour, a bit salty. A refreshing summer brew. Like a sour lager with a tingle on the salt buds

A little bit too salty this one, their other beers are lovely though
Shaun –
Fruity and sour, nice refreshing drink!
Paige –
Sour and Salty but in more of a table salt way. Gooseberry is hardly there. Smells like a lager on the nose.
Sam –
Interesting taste
G –
Magic Rock do some good flavoured beers and this is no exception. It tastes strongly of gooseberry and is a nice fruit drink. Cant taste the salt myself, but it just probably enhances the gooseberry. Another refreshing beer.
Robert –
A good sour taste but not too overpowering.
Greg –
Really refreshing. My first sour beer. Drank it in seconds! Will definitely drink again.
Lyndsey –
Such an easy drinker – tartness well balanced by the saltiness.

Took a moment to get the full flavours and then I definitely wanted lots more. A great after taste.

Brian –
Good well balanced gose worth a drink at the price
Alan –
One of those beers that grows on you with each sip, solid 3.5 out of 5. Also one of those beers that is exactly what it says on the tin.

Sharper than an Oscar Wilde witticism, written on stiff card, folded into a cone shape point, dipped in lemon juice and poked in your eye…. salty refreshing sour sharp and gorgeous
Dan –
Laura –
Not blown away by this at all. The flavours are not strong enough.
Catherine –
Couldn’t really taste any of the flavours just tasted like a standard beer. But disappointed with this one
John –
Pleasant, not overly sour, saltiness comes through well in the aftertaste.
Jason –
Crisp, mildly sour for a gose with understated gooseberry and a slightly salty finish. Very easy drinking and great value
Gary –
Better with food than on its own.
Rich –
A nice crisp but not overly tart Gose
Geoff –
Lacking in flavour although I do like the salted finish. It’s definitely lightly tart, I prefer much more tartness personally. Ok for the money.
Ian –
The tart undertones of grapefruit make this an easy session drink
Tamarisk –
Sours are my favourites. This one is perfect, not too fruity or overpowering still remains a beer

TANGY! Gotta be in the mood but nice when I am.

A nice gose, not too tart. Not the most memorable I have ever had but it is a great little refreshing beer at a brilliant price. I wasn’t blown away but I would still recommend
Matthew –
Love this beer. Great intro to sours and can be drunk on a session
Charlie –
Not a fan of this beer at all. Far to sour with not enough hops.
Diana –
Delightfully dry and fruity.
Liam –
Not bad!
Andrew –
Refreshing, bitter like a wheat beer
Darren –
A fabulous tasting beer, it doesn’t have an overpowering Gooseberry taste, but a hint of sourness and lick smacking goodness that make opening another beer a very good idea…. a nice balance of flavours and will compliment any snack or food.
Aaron –
Another good sour. Hints of saltiness and gose.
Liz –
Deliciously refreshing. A lovely drink for summer
Tom –
Wasn’t a fan of this, maybe Gose isn’t for me, was my entry point into the style! Interesting flavour combo, but a bit too salty for my liking.
Jack –
Good after a few but very fruity and a bit sour.

Household favourite

Update: My first review is below, but I tried a second can and it was much, much better. No salt taste dominating, subtle gooseberry, and really refreshing. Maybe the first can was just a wrong’un. However, it does suggest a bit of an issue with consistency…..My first review was; Ummmm. No. As a ‘normal’ gose, would have been quite pleasant and refreshing. The gooseberry is invisible and now and again the salt comes through, but not in a good way; think more ‘mouthful of seawater’. Feels contrived, not very nice.
Joel –
Simon –
This is just boring, lacks flavour.

Another awesome beer from those at Magic Rock! Probably one of the better sours I’ve tried to date.

A fabulous little number, has enough bite that you enjoy it from first to last mouthful.
Adrian –
Delicious mix of freshness and sour flavours with a fruity hit of gooseberry
ANDREW –
Decent sour beer, strong gooseberry flavour with a hint of salt

Jake –
Matthew –
Dissappointed with this one not enough gooseberry flavour for me
James –
Sarah –
Great gose and great flavours…not too sour but enough to pull a face 🙂
Louie –
Lacking the saltiness off a good gose. Gooseberry flavour not overly strong. Tastes more like a pale ale.
Ian –
My first taste of a sour beer. First sip,I wasn’t too sure, but it grew on me. It’s exactly as it says on tin; ‘ lightly sour, fruity and refreshing’. Can picture myself in the garden on a sunny day, drinking a few of these.
