Has many characteristics of wine , while the general colour is black the edge has a distinct red tinge to it . Also the taste improved when left in the glass for an hour before drinking . First taste was a little thin and fruity with no sweetness , aftertaste was much more complex with hints of red wine and a more familiar brown ale taste . As noted above tasted much better after an hour exposed to air with a fuller and more rounded flavour . I like it but very much an acquired taste and not for everybody .

Fizzy marmite, can't think of another way to describe it to be honest.
Giving it a star as it has a nice rich texture and smells nice, but that's it for me.

Extremely unusual style that works well. Not as complex as an Imperial stout, but needs careful drinking.

There’s a huge aroma oak barrels bursting out of the glass as I poured this. It has the lighter, less complex body from an Imperial brown, compared to a porter or stout. That’s not a bad thing, because there is so much red wine in this, that any more would have made this too busy. The red wine is the most prominent part of this, you get the full body and all the tannins like drinking a glass of wine. Theres a subtle, soft sweetness from the boozey beer, which breaks up the wine and oak.

Lighter than a barrel aged stout – the brown ale makes interesting contrast to that style. Still plenty of barrel character and a nice boozy hit. Enjoyed it
