Slightly disappointing…not as flavourful as I’d hoped.

Cloudwater:OK at the IPA thing, White Hag: excellent at the stouts. This turns out to be more of a hopped up mega stout than the listed Black IPA. And all the better for it. Proper thick, roasted deep stout vibes with elements of juicy hops at the top. I loved it, one of my faves of the style in ages.

Now its been a while since I’ve had a Black IPA, just seemed to have gone out of fashion a little. Well its back in the shape of this collab. Great hop character and some nice malt notes. Really good to see you again buddy!

Pours a deep black, dark chocolate orange aromas. Tangerine and roast coffee flavours, nice lingering bitterness to finish. Nice

Interesting. For me the balance wasn’t quite right, I feel that the roast malt completely overtake the hops and any tropical flavours

The fourth in a series of collaborations ahead of Cloudwater’s first festival, Friends & Family & Beer. White Hag from Sligo are known for their deliciously drinkable stout Black Pig while we’re synonymous with hops, so a Black IPA seemed the perfect compromise. Notes of orange and blackcurrant lead into hints of chocolate and roast and a pithy, bitter finish.
