Brooklyn Special Effects is a hoppy alcohol-free lager with a piney aroma and pleasantly bitter finish. The beer gets its bready sweetness from a blend of pale caramel, and dark roasted Munich malts, and its surprising nose from dry-hopping with Mosaic, Citra and Amarillo hops. The special effect is that it’s alcohol free!

I am normally a fan of Brooklyn Brewery, and this isn’t the worst alcohol free beer I have tasted, but it isn’t the best. It struggles with the same issues a lot of alcohol free beers do, a very strange aftertaste and almost chemically flavour. That said, if it is the only alcohol free beer on offer, it is perfectly drinkable.

If you’ve got to drink NA’s? This is reasonable maybe. Slightly soapy aroma…quite odd, & it’s followed through on taste a bit. Just don’t like non or very low ABV
