Description
Jet black yet light and hoppy – Black Betty is a big fat contradiction. A complex beer with dark honey, tropical fruit and ripe tangerine flavours on a chocolate palate. Plenty of Columbus, Chinook and Citra hops and some clever German malt makes Betty a big, stinky brew.
About the brewery
After beginning life in Logan Plant's kitchen back in 2011, Beavertown would go on to become one of contemporary British brewing's most iconic establishments. Beavertown offered a gateway to a new and exciting world of modern craft beer, punctuated by flavourful brews, subversive design and a potent rock ‘n’ roll approach to brewing that possessed both style and substance. In June 2018 it was announced that Heineken had acquired a minority stake in Beavertown.

Worth a try, but for what it is (a powerful black IPA from a top brewery), I couldn’t help expecting more.

Simply a great beer. Dark, full bodied but it still retains the IPA light fruitiness.

A decent balance and a good beer.
