Style Spotlight #3: Lagers

As we find ourselves at the end of a bit of a grey summer, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a late heatwave to save the day.

If we are somehow blessed with a late blast of sunshine, then what better way to get equipped than with a box of expertly selected Lagers. As much as we love hoppier styles, sometimes you just fancy something a little lighter and crispier, and the good news is that many of our favourite craft brewers have been exploring this style recently. To show Lager a little love, we’ve put together a specially selected case of these beers, as well as some all-time German classics, perfect for loading up the fridge so you’re ready for any sudden sunny surprise.

Grab a case today, and get ready to crank the speakers up with our latest mixtape of summertime sizzlers to accompany your new brews.

Style Spotlight #2: Sours & Ciders

Something about the summer just makes a delightful Sour pop that little bit more, while Cider was made for sipping in the sunshine. We decided to bring these two together in case that celebrates big bold fruity flavours. Both have their own rich back catalogue of different flavours, finishes and aromas for you to explore and, in this selection, you’ll sample classic crowd-pleasers as well as deep cuts you didn’t know you loved yet.

Check out why we chose these drinks

Thistly Cross – Traditional Scottish Cider:A soft and session-friendly number from one of Scotland’s best cideries. A go-to for BBQ season as the ABV means you can enjoy a few, and the clean finish means it goes great with glorious grilled grub.
BRLO – Berlin Jam Berliner Weisse:Berliner Weisse is a classic Sour style, often brewed without fruit and accompanied by a shot of fruity liqueur when drunk in a bar. These Berlin natives have united these two elements in a beer that’s been jam-packed with wild berries.
Thornbridge- Allot Pink Lemonade Sour:The UK brewing legends have recreated a real taste of British Summertime. Garden fruits, strawberries and rhubarb are used to brew a beer that takes us back to sipping cold, pink lemonade in the garden as kids on a rare sunny day!
Pollen – Bronze Medium Dry Cider:While specialising in impressive fine ciders, Pollen also get that sometimes you just want a quality, ice-cold, easy-drinking can. Flavour-wise, it sits somewhere between sweet and dry for a real crowd-pleasing balance.
Sakiskiu Alus – Raspberry Gose:We wanted to share a Sour that you’ll only find on HonestBrew, and this one’s a beauty! These Lithuanian microbrewers have squeezed in oodles of fresh raspberries along with a sprinkle of sea salt to create this lip-smacking sour.
Siren – Calypso:A more traditional Berliner Weisse that lets the ever-changing bill of hops shine for a spritzy, thirst-slaking beer. Often a starting point for many embarking on a Sour beer journey, it’s proved popular enough to become one of Siren’s core beers.
Thistly Cross – Cloudy Cider:Despite its cloudy appearance, this cider is brewed in the sunniest part of Scotland, the East Lothian coast. You can taste that sunshine in each gulp of this not-too-sweet, not-too-sour smasher.
Pühaste – Tropical Candy Mango and Passionfruit Sour:Does it get any more summery than a blend of mango and passionfruit? As many of us will be sticking to staycations this year, this beer can at least give your tastebuds the illusion of reclining on a tropical beach.
BRLO – Goosebump Gooseberry Berliner Weisse:Featuring Nelson Sauvin, a hop from New Zealand that shares a few traits with Sauvignon Blanc grapes. One of those traits is a gooseberry flavour, that’s amped up here with fresh gooseberry for a refreshingly different Sour.
