About North Brewing Co.

Background

In 2015, the founders of legendary Leeds beer spot, North Bar, realised their dream of opening their very own brewery. Since 1997, John Gyngell & Christian Townsley had been setting an example of just what a craft beer bar should look like, influencing breweries and venues alike, so it only made sense for them to expand to creating some of their craft beer. They opened a 15bbl brewery and taproom, less than half a mile from North Bar and quickly established themselves as one of the UK’s favourite breweries, utilising collaborations from the likes of Other Half, Lervig & Wylam to quickly develop their brewing knowledge.

The result is a beloved range of core beers, including Transmission, where big flavours are provided for great value prices. In terms of their specials, the DIPA releases are always greatly anticipated, while many an uninitiated IPA or Pale Ale drinker has been converted to the delightfully fruity and tart world of sour beer through their Triple Fruited Gose series. 2020 saw them claim two gongs in our HonestBrew Awards, where they hoovered up thousands of votes in the People’s Choice category, and received top marks from our judging panel to claim the Visual Excellence trophy.
